The Alternative Legal Profession

16th August 2011
It took me quite a while to pluck up the courage to make some creatures decked out in the garb of my former profession, but once they started appearing, there was no stopping them!

First up is Mortimer the Barrister Mouse, whose inspiration is Rumpole of the Bailey. Standing at about 3.5cm tall, his diminutive stature is no indication of his prowess in the courts.

The same goes for Humphrey Poddington. Mr Poddington is a rising star in the legal firmament and is tipped to be the youngest mollusc to take silk. Here, Mr Poddington (pictured, far right) is in conference with three of his colleagues. Conferences tend to last a very long time.

And last, but by no means least, is Dave. He's currently doing his pupillage for Mortimer (which he finds a bit embarrassing), and is frequently seen with a bulging file of papers tucked under one arm, tied with the traditional pink ribbon. Mortimer did have words with Dave for taking time out from his errands to pose for this photo.

Overall, I have to say that I much prefer dealings with these legal creatures than those from my formative career. I rest my case :)

  5. Thank you very much, Sue! It has been like watching them grow up, almost :) I absolutely believe that they are alive in themselves, and I think that makes all the difference :)
