Happy New Year!

4 January 2011
For the first post of 2011, I thought it would be nice to look at all things New, and what better new things are there than babies? Not just any babies, of course, but baby mice in particular :) For those of you who visit my Facebook page, you may have seen some of these before, but this is the first time they've been gathered altogether in one cute bundle of fun.

Wee Bunnies - A Retrospective

21 December 2010
It's been such a long time since I wrote about bunnies, that I thought it was about time for an update. Things have moved on quite a bit since I came up with my first bunny design way back in July last year - so without sparing a thought for my blushes over my early work, here is the Evolution of the Quernus Bunnies.

Bunny and Wee Bunny (b.31 August 2009)

I started playing around with bunnies in the morning, as it's been a long time since I last attempted one, and I've been wanting to have another go for a while. The large bunny measures 3cm wide and 3.5cm tall (to the tips of his ears). He works better having some paws, and has a certain cuteness to him.
Wee Bunny was a bit of fun using the clay left over from the larger bunny. As a result, he's a diminutive 2cm wide and 2.5cm to his ear tips. I didn't have beads small enough for his eyes, so these are made out of dots of black polymer clay. I will work on a range of colours of these Bunnies as I approach my first craft fair (more news on that shortly!)

Wee Bunny (b.29 July 2009)

The bunny is very much a work in progress. I'm pleased with the teeth, and the ears are definitely rabbit-like.

But unless you see the bobtail at the back, this could be a disembodied head, which is not the look I'm going for! My next plan is to reduce the scale of the facial features quite a bit, and perhaps have the ears going backwards, lying flat against the body.
